Established in 1861, the Woodend Cricket Club has been a cornerstone of the local community, providing players of all ages and skill levels with a welcoming and supportive environment to enjoy the sport they love. Located at Gilbert Gordon Oval and Racecourse Reserve ovals in Woodend, Victoria, we're proud to be affiliated with the Gisborne District Cricket Association. Our senior teams compete in the competitive McIntyre First and Second XI Competition, with additional teams in lower grades for social cricket and junior development.
Speaking of junior development, we offer a comprehensive program for boys and girls, ranging from Under 11’s to Under 17’s, as well as a Cricket Blast Program for our younger players. Our dedicated coaches and volunteers are committed to providing a positive and engaging experience for our junior members, helping them develop their cricketing skills while fostering lifelong friendships.

Nestled in the heart of Woodend, Gilbert Gordon Oval is our premier cricket ground, hosting our First XI and Second XI matches on Saturday afternoons. It’s also hosts our junior cricket on Saturday mornings and provides a vibrant setting for Under 11s and Cricket Blast on Friday evenings. The oval features top-notch facilities for both junior and senior training sessions and boasts modern amenities. Our social rooms are conveniently located here, making it a lively centre for both cricket and community events.
Racecourse Oval
Forest St, Woodend
Racecourse Oval, located in Woodend, is the home ground for our 3rd and 4th XI senior teams. This charming venue is perfect for summer cricket, offering a picturesque setting for matches. On Saturdays, Racecourse Oval hosts both junior cricket in the morning and senior cricket in the afternoon, making it a hub of activity throughout the day. With its well-maintained pitch and friendly atmosphere, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a full day of cricket.
Training
Gilbert Gordon Oval
Senior Training is held at 5pm on a Tuesday and Thursday evening.
Junior Training varies per age group:

Under 11 from 5-6pm on a Monday evening.

Under 13 from 5-6pm on a Monday evening.

Under 15 from 4:45-6pm on a Wednesday evening.

Under 17s train with our seniors.

Cricket Blast sessions from 5-6pm on a Friday evening.

Various Locations
Seniors Games are on a Saturday afternoon, and commence at different times depending on the grade and format.
Junior Games vary per age group:

Under 11 from 5-7:30pm on a Friday evening.

Under 13 and 15 from 8:45-11:30am on a Saturday morning.

Under 17 from 5:30-8:00pm on a Tuesday evening.
For most junior grades, our teams are organised into geographic groups to reduce travel.
